Cousins Corner

I grew up in Jackson County Ill.  and live on the farm that my gggrandfather Casper Easterly and his wife Elizabeth moved to in 1849 from Tn-- they had 13  children,. however not all came with them to Ill-- On son Elbert  became a farmer and Casper and Elizabeth lived with them until they died-- I have a copy of their will---He in 1862 and she in 1863-- I even have a picture of them made in 1828,   They are buried in a cemetery next to the farm.  Elbert inherited the farm and he had several children, but quite a few died in infancy with TB and are also buried in the Pleasant grove Cemetery.  My grandfather Herman gatewood Easterly then inherited the farm and lived here until he died in 1935,   My father then inherited the farm and farmed it until his death in 1965.    I had 3 brothers and myself-- none of my brothers became farmers-- I inherited the farm and have been living here most of my life.-- I am now 81 years old and there are no more Easterly's to carry on the farm.---
This farm now consists of approximately 200 acres and  is one of the largest between Carbondale, & Murphysboro, Ill-- we do not farm it as we have a man who farms it for us.-- I have two children, but one lives in Deerfield, Ill and another in College station, Tx so they are not interested in the farm at the present time.
My husband is still living and is a retired Chiropractor I still am employed doing income tax returns-- have been doing them for 50 years.-- do them on the computer.

Hope this will let you know something of the Easterly's from Ill,

    Anna Easterly Halterman
